Teacher Preparation

Welcome to the Los Angeles Valley College Teacher Preparation site. Our goal is to prepare you with the practical experience necessary to become an educator and teach for school districts K-12.

What is Elementary Teacher Education?

The Elementary Teacher Education program is designed to prepare students to become K-5th grade teachers. The program provides students with the necessary preparation for teaching subjects such as reading, writing, grammar, math, geography, and history. The Elementary Teacher Education degree provides students with the education on how to blend classroom theory into teaching methods to develop a creative method of teaching.

What is Liberal Studies?

Liberal Studies is a degree that provides students with preparation in art, history, philosophy, and technology and the impact of these disciplines on contemporary issues. This degree allows students to increase their abilities to think and communicate clearly. This degree can be combined with teacher training programs to become K-12 educators or other interdisciplinary majors.
